(testing during a pregnancy)

  Legal and court admissible.

No need to wait until the baby is born to establish paternity. Testing during a pregnancy can now be performed as early as 9 weeks gestation.

A simple blood draw from the pregnant mother and the alleged father(s) provides a sample that is analyzed for genetic markers in the DNA to calculate whether or not the alleged father is the biological father of the fetus.   This non-invasive test is safe and carries none of the risks that traditional methods (CVS or amniocentesis) can cause such as injury to the fetus and/or mother, or complications to the pregnancy.

LEGAL DNA Testing can be used for:

  • Parentage issues - to prove or disprove that a child is from an alleged father (paternity test) or alleged mother (maternity test).
  • Child support.  Child custody.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Family relationships - for inheritance purposes or for Social Security benefits eligibility.  Also, for family relationship determination such as grandparentage and siblingship tests.  The genetic profiles of participants are compared to see if shared DNA exists.  If there are markers shared among the tested individuals, the probability of biological relationship is calculated to determine how likely the tested individuals share the same markers due to a blood relationship.
  • Geneology.
  • Adoption - for determination of paternity and/or maternity.
  • Court Order.
  • Will / Estate.
  • Tax forms.
  • Medical Examiner cases (alleged father is deceased and sample is in possession by the Medical Examiner).
  • Immigration parentage and relationship testing worldwide - AABB accredited; USCIS
  • Other legal reasons.

Please note:  All paternity test specimens are collected under strict chain of custody procedures - no self-collections are allowed per NYS regulations.

Forensic Testing Services:
  • Infidelity testing (semen/sperm detection) of suspect items such as undergarments and other clothing items.
  • Identifying remains.
  • Criminal paternity - includes underage children as well as incestuous relationships.
  • DNA analysis can be done from items such as weapon handles, exhumed remains, chewing gum,  "lick-sealed" envelopes, cigarette butts, toothbrush, urine specimens, semen, etc.

 DNA can be obtained from:

  • Blood (white) cells
  • Cheek (buccal) cells
  • Saliva
  • Body tissues (i.e. muscle)
  • Bones
  • Semen
  • Hair
